New Horizons Health and Research Foundation (NHF), the registered non-profit wing of New Horizons Group (Reg.No.U85100MH2012NPL238563)No.DIT(E)/80G/111/N/2014-15], follows a four pronged approach which includes
NHF has developed and initiated school based intervention programs, conducted teacher training and community awareness programs on a national scale and has recently launched diploma courses recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India in affiliation with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Deemed University). These programs have led to widespread awakening and policy level changes in schools across India for children with special needs. Our work in the field of Teacher Development Programs has been published in the International Journal of Psychosocial Research. (Volume III, No. 1, July 2014, Pages 56-61)
NHF has joined hands with the Centre for Development and Disability (CDD), University of New Mexico, USA to conduct training programs for child development centres in India that may not have access to scientific knowledge (titled ECHO INDIA). ECHO is currently conducted every month through teleconferencing in Mumbai, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Nagpur.
This venture has facilitated the first study in India to develop a five point checklist to be used by community health workers and mothers to identify children at risk for developmental disabilities. The Pilot study is currently being conducted under ethical guidelines of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at LTMG Hospital, Mumbai.
